Single Delivery Point System
SMO has built a storage system (Single Delivery Point) for the SAS Automotive Belgium company to deliver dashboard parts to the assembly line in sequence.
SAS builds cockpits for Volvo Cars and delivers them in sequence. Due to a growing variety of parts, there was a need for an automatic storage and delivery system.
The system – called “SDP” (single delivery point) – can store up to ten different types of structures in its warehouse. Volvo Cars forwards its incoming orders to the SAS SDP system. The SDP system then retrieves the correct parts from the warehouse so that they are presented to the conveyor belt in the correct order.
This saves a few man-hours for SAS. But it mainly ensures that the possibility of errors in the production sequence of operators is now completely excluded.
